Embrace – the iconic sculpture and collaborative art project creating an impact for MoRA

MoRA’s iconic structure has a new name:  Embrace. The gathering space at Conference Drive and Monroe Road is now a destination landmark after many months of hard work by community volunteers and an art team led by Lee Baumgarten.  The sculpture, conceived by public artist Leslie Scott, was unveiled on November 14th and promises to be a beacon for the area.

Art is a transforming and inspiring element for communities and part of MoRA’s strategic initiatives for redefining this area. While Leslie is not here to see her vision for this collaborative art project and gathering space realized, she has left an indelible mark on the Monroe Road area.  She herself saw this as the first of many creative projects for MoRA, and our mission is to see this vision also realized.

A note of thanks and what’s next for art in MoRA

The iconic MoRA sculpture at Monroe Road and Conference Drive could not have happened without the businesses and individuals of this area who stepped up to help. To everyone who contributed to this fundraising campaign, we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. This sculpture is a tribute to this community’s spirit, hard work and generosity and is a sign of what we can do as a community working together.

MoRA’s vision is to have a series of art and creative community projects that define and distinguish the area. Please let us know if you have ideas and resources that you would like to lend.
