Community Meeting 3/23: New Recycling Center & Park

Events, News

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation has designated the 12.2-acre parcel of land located on Monroe Road—across from Sharon Memorial and south of Sharon Amity Rd—to be a new, full-service recycling location.

This same property is, additionally, planned to be a park and may include “a playground, picnic shelter with grill, fitness equipment, a play meadow, walking trails and other amenities typically found in neighborhood parks.”

County documents show that this parcel has been referred to as “Monroe Road Park” for at least a few years; however, it isn’t clear whether that will be the name of the future park/recycling center.

Meeting on March 23, 2023

Park and Rec is hosting an Open House Community Meeting on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 5 to 7pm at the Naomi Drenan Recreation Center.

Listen to the County’s presentation/plan for the land, ask questions, and share your thoughts. What would you like to see planned for the park? What questions do you have about the recycling center?
