Custom Home Pubs offers a ton of beer options. Seriously, it’s tough to cover everything you can get at this Galleria Village shop. If the beer is local, you can probably find it here. They sell kegerators, home delivery of over 1,200 different kegs, a wide selection of refrigerated bottles and cans, and even 12 beers on tap at their small taproom.
This shop is huge if you are looking for a great craft beer selection. Southeast Charlotte is short on bottle shops, usually sending neighbors out to Total Wine across town for any beer not available at a grocery store. This has been a great spot for seasonal beers, and small brews you won’t find in Harris Teeter, like sours, nitro coffees, raspberry stouts.
We talked with owner Geoffrey about his shop, who said their taproom is becoming a good local watering hole. “Every Monday and Thursday we offer 50% off pints of all 12 draft beers. This has grown very popular and even launched a Monday night dart league.” They have a good crowd for Carolina Panthers games, too!
Geoffrey moved to the Monroe Road area after years by 485 and Independence. Now nestled next to the new Famous Toastery, the shop keeps him closer to keg deliveries across Charlotte, along with easy access to Independence. He loves where the neighborhood has been headed: “I think it’s on the up and up! We’ve lived in the neighborhood for 16 years and I see a lot more young families moving into the neighborhood than at any other point. With the development of Meridian, I think it helps solidify the Monroe Rd corridor as a legitimate retail option for folks in South Charlotte, East Charlotte and Matthews.”
Geoffrey has been running Custom Home Pubs for over a decade. When he started, Charlotte breweries were just Rock Bottom and Hops. Now he sells beer from over 30 local craft breweries.
