Deep Sea Seafood Changes Ownership

News

This week brought a big announcement from Larry and Tracy Mesiti of Deep Sea Seafood Market. After serving our area with the freshest seafood and delicious dine-in service for the past decade, Larry and Chef Tracy Mesiti announced they have sold their shop to another couple. You’ll want to get over there today, Saturday, July 3rd, if you want to grab fresh seafood, prepared foods, or to wish them well as they set sail on a new adventure.

Larry’s message:

After 10 years Tracy and I will be leaving Deep Sea. It is a sad day for the both of us as we have gotten to know so many of you over the years and we will miss all of you. I know you will miss Tracy’s great cooking and my always sunny disposition behind the counter. But we are not going far.

We are selling the business to a nice couple who we hope will still be able to give you the same great food, fresh fish and seafood you have received in the past.

We are starting a new venture in Waxhaw called Terra Mare Market. We will still be selling fresh fish and seafood but also be adding locally sourced meats and chicken. We will still be serving lunch but it will be take out only. We will not have any indoor seating.

It will be located at 1526 Providence Rd. Waxhaw at the corner of New Town Rd. We are looking to open towards the end of July. We will keep you posted.

Our last day at Deep Sea will be Saturday, July 3.

It was our pleasure to serve you,

Tracy & Larry

A Little Backstory:

Larry’s first job at 13yo was as a fish monger in Teaneck, NJ. Just prior to moving to NC, he was the Director of Operations for eight restaurants in Manhattan. When he arrived to Charlotte, he couldn’t find good fresh seafood in this part of town and decided to open Deep Sea Seafood Market out of necessity—to fulfill his own fresh fish wants.

Everything they sourced was fresh, never frozen… and the offerings changed every day. The couple was going to keep it strictly retail, but they couldn’t keep Chef Tracy’s culinary talents a secret. When customers’ demand for Tracy’s dishes soared, Deep Sea started to offer dine-in lunch and dinner.  We wrote a short article on the market back in 2018.

Good luck, Mesiti Family and thank you for serving us for the last decade and bringing the freshest of seafood to a landlocked area. We look forward to meeting the new owners soon.
