Embrace – MoRA’s gathering place
Embrace is the polished-steel-and-mosaic sculpture located at Conference Drive and Monroe Road. It was designed by Leslie Scott, and created by an art team led by Lee Baumgarten. Unveiled in 2017, it is a favorite community gathering spot and a beacon for the area.
This was MoRA’s first public art project. Thousands of hand-crafted tiles were created at community workshops. Hundreds of volunteer hours were contributed.
Private and public contributions from businesses and residents paid for this transformational sculpture, along with a grant from the Arts & Science Council.

A note of thanks and what’s next for art in MoRA
The iconic MoRA sculpture at Monroe Road and Conference Drive could not have happened without the businesses and individuals of this area who stepped up to help. To everyone who contributed to this fundraising campaign, we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. This sculpture is a tribute to this community’s spirit, hard work and generosity and is a sign of what we can do as a community working together.
MoRA’s vision is to have a series of art and creative community projects that define and distinguish the area. Please let us know if you have ideas that you would like to share.
