Food Trucks Open Takeout Service

News

There’s always something special cooking in Carolina Commercial Kitchen (CCK), and during weekdays this month, you can partake. The fully stocked commercial kitchen space is home base to some of the city’s most popular food trucks, caterers, and food producers—many who will be offering a weekday takeout option from the CCK delivery room.

As the crow flies, CCK is a few hundred feet off Monroe Road behind Vaulted Oak. From Wendover, you turn just after Habitat Restore and Julia’s Cafe and drive back to 3500 Latrobe Drive.

Sasha Quinn’s food truck — Soul Miner’s Garden

“With Covid we continue to be forced to adapt. Part of that adapting has led to us launching lunch takeout from our commercial kitchen,” says Sasha Quinn, owner of Soul Miner’s Garden Food Truck.

Quinn says this is one way that she hopes to continue building her business, while providing another time of day for customers to enjoy delicious vegan eats.

In addition to Soul Miner’s Garden, the growing list of food trucks offering takeout includes Tacos Rick-O, Chickpeasy, Alternative Chef, Patty and The Dogs, Rollicious Ribs, and Poppycox.

SWEETENING THE DEAL

100 Free Cookies 1/14/22

Hunter Brawley, Manager of CCK, is excited about the collaboration. His family is proud of the roster of chefs and food producers they serve, and on Friday, January 14, CCK is sweetening the deal.

“I will be giving away 100 Tiff’s Treats cookies to the first 100 [customers] who order pickup food,” says Brawley. Tacos Rick-O, Patty and The Dogs, Poppycox, and Rollicious Ribs are all serving on Friday, Jan. 14.

THE SCHEDULE

The schedule is evolving based on the community’s interest. Therefore, each food truck is offering select weekdays and times of service. Check in with your favorites, as you usually do.

CCK website ordering

CCK is compiling order links on a page on their website.  We’ve put together the following list with descriptions and photos, as well as order links if available.

“We hope that it proves to be successful to allow more time in the evenings with our family and can be a permanent offering,” says Quinn.

We hope so too! Monroe Road Advocates is excited to see this kind of creative solution. We all have to try new things and support one another in responding to changing times.
