Twelfth Night
Written by William Shakespeare around 1601
Plot Summary
After the twins Sebastian and Viola survive a shipwreck, neither knows that the other is alive. Viola goes into service with Count Orsino of Illyria, disguised as a young man, ‘Cesario.’ Orsino sends Cesario to woo the Lady Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia falls in love with Cesario. Viola, in the meantime, has fallen in love with Orsino.
But mistaken identities, lovesick suitors and trickery abounds, so come prepared for much more!
Under the trees
“It’s the first time that Shakespeare will be performed in the Monroe Road area, and we’re excited to help make it happen — especially in such a beautiful outdoor setting,” says Kathy Hill, chair of MoRA.
“Twelfth Night is a comedy, and a great first Shakespeare play to see. We hope that families will come out and really enjoy themselves.”
The stage is under a canopy of tall trees, next to a 100-year old dairy barn and silos.
