Restaurant and fish market Deep Sea Seafood serves the freshest in town

News

If you follow MoRA on Facebook, you know we are huge fans of Deep Sea Seafood Market. If you are looking for food in the area, you will probably see Deep Sea thanks to their stellar reviews on Yelp. Driving by, you may think they are just a fish market. They do sell the freshest fish in town, with quality that puts any grocery store to shame. And it makes for some great poke.

Yes, they sell Scottish salmon, North Carolina rainbow trout, ahi tuna, jumbo shrimp, oysters, and just about anything else you could imagine. They also sell some fantastic prepared foods, like crab cakes, shrimp stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeños, and cheddar bacon stuffed potatoes. The potatoes are huge, and the prepared foods are a huge timesaver when you are cooking for family.

We do have a loyal following for our lobster rolls. We serve them on occasion on Fridays, and they are usually sold out by the end of lunch service. – Larry Mesiti, owner

What some may not realize is that Deep Sea has a delicious lunch and dinner with daily specials and a constantly rotating menu. You will find some standard options on their lunch menu like fish & chips and fried shrimp. They also offer some seriously delicious options you won’t find elsewhere, like their alligator sausage po-boy and mahi banh mi. You cannot go wrong with either of their seared tuna sandwiches. Dinner gets turned up a note, too, with offerings like prosciutto-wrapped scallops, oyster shooters, and crab cakes with peach salsa.

Larry Mesiti of Deep Sea says they have sold fresh and never frozen fish in southeast Charlotte for over five years. Larry said southeast Charlotte was lacking a place with a fresh seafood counter, and picked the Monroe Road area because of the neighborhood and growth. He thought the area felt like a “black hole” just a few years ago, but new development and a neighborhood identity has changed the face of the community.

Deep Sea serves lunch between 11 and 5 Monday through Saturday, and dinner from 5 to 8 from Tuesday to Saturday. Dinner is BYOB with a small corking fee. Pro tip: if you’re looking for a good beer selection, Custom Home Pubs is just across the street.

Deep Sea is located at 10020 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28270. Follow along for their daily specials on their Twitter and Facebook accounts, and see their menu on their website. If you see beer cheese soup on their daily specials, definitely make a trip to get a bowl.
