Earlier this year we announced the new 80,000 square foot development located on Monroe Road and Idlewild would be named MoRA Point. This was important to the Monroe Road Advocates, who have worked to give the area between Matthews and Oakhurst a name. The more businesses that embrace the name, the more Charlotte knows about our neighborhood.
Also important to neighbors has been the lack of coffee shops in the heart of MoRA. Mora Point is helping fix this problem, too!
The new Aldi grocery store is slated to open in early 2019, while Starbucks, Verizon, and Super Cuts are slated for the third quarter of 2019. Yes, the Starbucks even has a drive-thru for your early morning commute.
“Not only are Starbucks, Supercuts and Verizon great additions to MoRA, their presence is a strong indicator of the growing popularity of this fast-changing corridor,” said Mac Barksdale, Selwyn Property Group partner spearheading leasing at MoRA Point. “These tenants are consistent with our vision and reflect the kind of interest that we are seeing in MoRA Point,” added Barksdale.
Starbucks is an exciting addition to the neighborhood. Not only is it a great indicator for the direction of the neighborhood, but residents have a place to hangout and meet right in the heart of MoRA.
Residents have spent years pushing for more neighborhood services in our area. No more drives to Cotswold or Matthews just for a cup of coffee. Verizon and Supercuts are a huge step towards serving neighbors who otherwise drive to Matthews for a haircut or the Arboretum for a new phone.
MoRA Point and Meridian Place have not only changed the look of our neighborhood, but they have brought better and closer options to serve the local community.
